Happy World Reef Day! 🌊🪸
Today we celebrate the reefs that protect our coastlines, support marine life, sustain livelihoods, and connect our communities to the sea. From corals and seagrass beds to turtles, conch, fish, and countless other species, healthy reef ecosystems are essential to Belize’s future.
At SEA, we remain committed to protecting and monitoring these important marine habitats through conservation, research, enforcement, and community partnership.
Let’s continue working together to keep our reefs healthy, today and every day. 💙

Roatan Marine Park, Bay Islands Conservation Association, Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE), Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association, and Southern Environmental Association came together in Ambergris Caye alongside colleagues from marine protected areas across Honduras and Belize , sharing knowledge, building connections, and advancing sustainable marine tourism.
As proud members of MPAConnect, we've been collaborating on what matters most: coral monitoring, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and a thriving blue economy.
This exchange, held alongside the Caribbean Tourism Organization's Sustainable Tourism Conference, reminded us that when MPAs, communities, and the private sector work together , conservation and tourism can go hand in hand.
A huge thank you to NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program for making this possible and for your continued commitment to our reefs and our region.
