🌳🚜 Corozal Sustainable Future Initiative (CSFI) - 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐈𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 🚜🌳

Our forests are one of Belize's greatest treasures, providing habitat for countless wildlife species, protecting our water sources, and supporting the health of our environment. Unfortunately, illegal logging continues to threaten these precious ecosystems.

Last week, the CSFI Enforcement Team discovered signs of illegal logging during a routine patrol in the North Eastern Biological Corridor (NEBC). The team found freshly cut trees, logs prepared for removal, and an unauthorized access trail leading into the protected area.

As part of the operation, a tractor and chainsaw believed to have been used in the illegal activity were confiscated, and evidence was documented to support the ongoing investigation. Although the team encountered attempts to interfere with the operation, they remained committed and successfully carried out their duties.
Illegal logging doesn't just remove trees; it destroys wildlife habitat, fragments forests, and impacts the natural resources that future generations depend on.

This successful operation is another example of the strong collaboration between CSFI and the Belize Forest Department to protect Belize's protected areas and ensure that our forests remain healthy and thriving.

We encourage everyone to play their part in protecting our natural heritage. If you witness illegal activities near protected areas, report them to the relevant authorities. Together, we can help preserve Belize's forests for generations to come.
