MRT and the PROSPER Project Moving Rural Communities Forward.

Recently, CEO of the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Mr. Valentino Shal, successfully chaired the Project Steering Committee meeting for the EU-funded ILO PROSPER Project. The purpose of the meeting was to assess implementation progress, financial performance, and opportunities to strengthen alignment with complementary EU supported initiatives. This meeting finalized all target communities in Stann Creek and Toledo, setting the stage for major local economic development. By advancing competency-based training in cacao and tourism, supporting green enterprises, and empowering women's entrepreneurship, this initiative actively moves our rural communities forward toward a more prosperous future.

MRT Inaugurates New Water System Expansion for Pomona Village.

The Ministry of Rural Transformation is proud to announce the inauguration of a new water system expansion for the village of Pomona, a vital investment in the community’s water security. This project upgrades local infrastructure with a fully solarized system, a new 40,000-liter ground-level reservoir with 15 HP booster pump, a newly constructed pump house, and a backup generator to ensure a consistent, reliable water supply especially during peak demand. Furthermore, the Ministry also handed over a significant consignment of pipes, fittings, and other plumbing materials to the local water board, empowering them to manage future expansion and connect new households effectively. Through these targeted initiatives, the Ministry remains dedicated to bridging service gaps, fostering climate resilience, and ensuring that rural communities like Pomona possess the infrastructure necessary for long-term growth and economic stability.
