Belize Bird Rescue

Right now the feeders at BBR are unusually quiet as nesting season is in full swing and many of the parrots are busy incubating eggs, feeding chicks, or guarding nest sites deep in the trees.

But a few months ago it was a very different story.

This video from January shows what the breeding season build-up looked like around the feeders: noisy, competitive, dramatic, and occasionally chaotic as parrots jostled for territory, attention, and mates.

Now the forest has gone quieter again… for all the right reasons.

These two are getting a little facey.

(Belizeans will get that)

For everyone else: it roughly translates to bold, cheeky, full of attitude… and perhaps just a little too up in your business!

In other words: very normal parakeet behaviour 😅

Growing up fast… 🦉💚

These baby owls are changing by the day, and we’re now almost certain these two are Mottled Owls.

Still very much youngsters, but growing quickly, and still making time for sibling cuddles.

Watching them develop, feather out, and gain confidence is always something special… even more so when they pause long enough for moments like this.

Growing up doesn’t mean you have to stop being adorable.
