Farmed to Perfection

Many people have much to say when they hear that a tree (that is hollow inside), was cut down to remove bees.

But how can anyone truly comment without knowing — or even seeing — the environment, the risks, or the circumstances surrounding the situation?

Here in Belize, we do NOT have a gentle strain of bees. We have Africanized bees. While they are incredible pollinators and producers, they can also be highly defensive. Sadly, there have been both human and animal deaths associated with bee attacks in our country.

When a property owner chooses to call a knowledgeable beekeeper to safely extract and relocate a colony rather than destroy it, that is a responsible and commendable decision.

The easy choice is often extermination.

Choosing relocation takes more time, more effort, more skill, and more care for both the bees and the community.

That deserves much applause! 🐝🌳
