General information
HOW DID GUIDE LIGHT PRODUCTIONS CAME ABOUT?
Guide Light Productions was first created to be a youth T.V Show that would have given youths a professional podium to voice their concerns as future leaders and speak on issues near them. The whole foundation of Guide Light Productions changed on August 2nd, 2014 when the death of 16 year old Chryslyn Sharmain Gladden took place. The Founder and Executive Director of Guide Light Productions and also the owner of his business Drew's Designs Mr. Andrew Jeffrey Munnings, decided to make Guide Light Productions more than just a show to let youths voice their concerns, but he decided to pave a foundation where youths can help change lives.
GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE BELIZE PEER HELPERS.
This group is formed by 10 students from each secondary high school in Belize City and youth volunteers from communities, schools and youth groups.
Throughout our projects, we will target important information such as the importance of education, health, making choices, social issues, peer pressure, dating, the importance of abstinence, healthy relationships, being independent, violence and other important topics and train our peer helpers and volunteers on how to become positive citizens to society and use them to spread knowledge already gained throughout their peers. With activities such as Community Services, District to District outreach programs, Pre School and Primary School Volunteering Programs, Schools and Community Sporting Tournaments, Children Home and Senior Citizen Home Outreach Programs, Youth Social Night, Youth Rally, Teen of the Week Profile, Annual Teachers Appreciation Night, Mentoring Programs, Tutoring Programs, Youth Counseling Programs, National Youth Conferences and many more, we tend to teach youths on how to become leaders, train them on how to give back to society and allow them to learn and experience civic responsibility, while helping others. Through community service projects our members will develop life skills in sharing, empathy, volunteering, being a responsible citizen, service learning, and others. The other great thing about community service, is that it can be fun!.
Who will dream for us if we dare not dream our own dream? Who will run our race if dare not get up after falling? Who will help us if we dare not help ourselves?
Now is the time for young men and young women to realize that the future depends on us. We can choose to sit on the side lines waiting for a miracle to happen or we can wake up and realize that the miracle was indeed for us to make a difference.
