The Botswana Geoscience Institute (BGI) recently hosted a delegation from BRGM (France's National Geological Survey) for a strategic working visit to advance the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

The visit focused on finalising a joint concept note that will operationalise the partnership, with an initial focus on critical minerals exploration and integrated geoscience data management. These priority areas will strengthen Botswana's geoscience capabilities, support mineral exploration, and enhance investment promotion.

The discussions also laid the foundation for future collaboration in research, laboratory services, groundwater management, and capacity building through knowledge exchange and technical cooperation.

Together, BGI and BRGM are building partnerships that strengthen science, unlock opportunities, and support Botswana's sustainable mineral development.
