It is with a lot of excitement and gratitude that we at can announce that Jo Keppler will be on the start line of the inaugural edition the event.

Jo says the following:

The allure of Tankwa Crossing stems from an obsession that I've had with Badwater ever since I started running. I’m not sure what exactly enticed me, but I always knew it was something I wanted to do. When the opportunity to run the Tankwa crossing arose- I thought “Ha here is my Badwater in Africa!” I guess its about pushing myself beyond what I think I’m capable of in terms of distance and then the heat adds a whole new dynamic. This is where I will get to know myself really well and learn to fight the voice that says, “you can’t do it”. There is something about running these ultras that makes me feel alive, that connects me to something deeper and I guess that “thing” I was always searching for. Its in me, somewhere deep. I become better acquainted with it every time I do these sorts of events.

Jo is no stranger to running fast and far. She's completed Karkloof Trail Series 100 miler second lady and Ultra-Trail Drakensberg - UTD 100 miler as first lady and 6th overall. Ultra-trail Cape Town - UTCT she finished 10th lady and the 75km Umgeni River Run as first lady and 5th overall.
