In 1992, the government recognized the need to broaden child abuse emphasis to include the protective aspect of child abuse. They also recognized the need to dedicate more time to this important social issue, hence, a decision was made to change the time frame from one week to one month, and to change the name from Family and Child Care Week to Child Protection Month.
