Reposted from Reva.lution Today is International Homebirth Day. Most people have a stereotypical view of homebirth and what it looks like; gory, unsafe and for hippie-ish folks. Wrong 🤗.

Homebirth can be as varied as any other birth. It can be as little as just the birthing parents there or as many people as wanted (I had 5 at both of mine). Homebirth can be medicated, unassisted, or in some cases interrupted to transfer to a hospital.

Homebirth is not an option for everyone but it IS an option, can look how you want (in most cases depending on the midwife present, if there is one) and can go just as unplanned as any other birth.

That's the beauty of birth to me, it's so unpredictable how we bring these little people into this world. No matter how we plan or envision our births, these tiny people come when they're ready and we're just along for the ride.

It is ok to want assurance that this newly released therapy will not cause any harm to your baby or have long-term impact on yours and their future health. As you weigh up the risks versus benefits for you and your baby, here are some questions you can ask your OB or your trusted healthcare provider.

==> What is the data in Bermuda for mothers and babies who have contracted the virus, and resulted in a negative birth outcome?

==> Has it been proven safe for pregnant women and their babies?

==> Can you provide me with more information on the studies conducted and their findings?

==> Is there an ideal time during pregnancy to get the shots?

==> What other options do I have to protect myself and my baby from the virus?

In addition, be encouraged to listen to your body for some of the answers. Your maternal instinct is awakened during pregnancy, and remains for as long as you are a parent. Ask yourself:

> How does it feel in your gut and heart when you think about taking the shot?
