Children supported by the Future Society for Youth’s Smile Initiative, which raises awareness and provides assistance to young cancer patients and their families in Bahrain, enjoyed a fun day and cooking experience at one of the kingdom’s five-star hotels.
The 25 children, aged five to 12, were treated to a culinary class by executive chef Ramadhan Younis at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa, as well as games with hotel staff members and charity volunteers.
“We were very delighted to have Smile Bahrain with us,” said Zaher Al Ajjawi, chief executive officer of the National Hotels Company, the Diplomat’s parent company. “The main focus of this event was for children to enjoy, have fun and learn something new. And, the most important thing was to see big smiles on everyone’s faces and that was achieved.”

There are very few upscale dining experiences, which promise the kind of intimacy with the chef that comes with a seat at a sushi bar – less than a metre away from the master crafter who prepares your meal with delicate attention-to-detail.
This is how Chef Tetsu Yahagi introduced the GulfWeekly team to the concept of the new Sushi Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay’s newly-renovated and recently-reopened Re/Asian Cuisine.
Along with Chef Hiroyuki ‘Fuji’ Fujino, Chef Tetsu has flown out to the kingdom from the US to craft and curate the perfect Asian fusion culinary experience.
Trusted by celebrated chef Wolfgang Puck as among his ‘sushi experts’, the two make the perfect team – Chef Fuji, 64, brings the discipline of a classically-trained sushi chef, while Chef Tetsu, 44, adds the avant-garde touch that makes a meal at the restaurant so much more than just eating the food.

The charity sale will be held at Artly’s studio in A’ali, from September 30 to October 2, from 5pm to 11pm.
“Our mission with Art for Care is to support our community through art,” said Krew member Stella Auxtero, who works with different mediums and enjoys portrait expressionism. “We believe that art is not just putting our work and hobbies for all to see. Art is about intent and communication.

Luxury cars today are inching closer to the tech-savvy spaceships we have grown up seeing in shows like Star Trek, and Mercedes’ seventh iteration of its flagship S-Class is the perfect example.
To put the newest Mercedes S500 4matic to the test, GulfWeekly took the technology-packed titan to the road and from the get-go, we were nothing short of impressed.
From the very first glance at the first-class beast, any grumblings about luxury cars all looking the same are put to rest. The S500 has hints of the classic Mercedes look, but augmented with technology that you will probably not find in another car for the next two decades.
