The Comfort Town residential complex is the first daring color solution for a residential neighborhood in Ukraine. In the conditions of a limited budget, architects created sections with simple geometric shapes and made flat facades, thus excluding balconies and decorative elements.

Royal College Art graduate Danielle Elsener has created a toolkit to help fashion designers reduce waste and save money through more efficient pattern cutting.

The project consists of a system of tools and workshops that aims to eliminate the 15 per cent of material wasted in the production of an average garment.

For her graduate collection, called Circling the Square, Elsener used the A020 system to create menswear pieces that visually showcase the design process through which they were made.

Rather than trying to assimilate the distinctive shapes created through this method of pattern cutting into a homogenous whole, the pieces use bold, block colors to draw attention to their different constituent elements.

Hoe ontstaat een regenboog? | Een regenboog ontstaat wanneer waterdruppels door de zon worden beschenen. Het invallende zonlicht bestaat uit golven met een verschillende golflengte. Wanneer lichtstralen van de ene in de andere stof terechtkomen (in dit geval van lucht in water), worden ze gebroken. De stralen met een langere golflengte (rood) worden minder gebroken dan de stralen met een kleinere golflengte (blauw).

Daardoor komt het dat het witte zonlicht, na aanraking met een regendruppel, wordt uitgesplitst in de verschillende kleuren violet, indigo, blauw, groen, geel, oranje en rood.
