At the 20th Bangladesh Denim Expo, Deputy Managing Director of Team Group, Mr. Abdullah Hil Nakib, took the stage for one of the most consequential conversations facing our industry today: “Negotiating the Future: Trade Agreements and Bangladesh Apparel in the Post-LDC Era.”

LDC graduation is no longer a distant prospect; it is the defining policy challenge our sector must address with clarity, foresight, and strategic intent. During the discussion, Mr. Nakib emphasized the importance of developing a clear roadmap to navigate the apparel and textile industry through the post-LDC era.
He underscored that such a strategy can only take shape when the industry receives greater clarity from the government — specifically, a definitive timeline for LDC graduation and a transparent outline of the preparation period available to manufacturers, including the transition arrangements.

However, preparation alone will not be enough. Mr. Nakib highlighted that Bangladesh’s apparel sector must use this window of opportunity to fundamentally strengthen its competitive foundation by deepening sustainability across manufacturing processes, fostering innovation throughout the value chain, and accelerating value addition and diversification beyond conventional product categories.
