China is where the history of tea began. Legend has it that in 2737 BC, as Shen Nung, the Chinese emperor, was sitting under a tree with his servant boiling water, some of the tree's leaves flew into the water. Renowned herbalist Shen Nung made the decision to sample the infusion that his servant had made by mistake. The drink that was produced from the tree leaf is today known as tea.
