among the students. History:
Gregorian Science Club is one of the
most historical and active clubs of
St. It was founded at the
beginning of the decade of sixties. It
was founded by Bro. Donald Becker
accompanied by Bro. Hobart and the
moderator during that period was
Mr. Mrinal Kanti Dey. Donald
with his single laboratory, but
powerhouse of energy and
encouragement had truly influenced
the mere of our students towards
science. The club has passed a long
path smoothly for his sincere effort. GSC is arranging science fair in
school premises every year since
1964. It is the grand festival of a
year of the School. In previous years,
a festive mood used to spread to the
whole old Dhaka during science fair
at St. Gregoryโs. A huge number of
people visit the fair every year. Almost 60% students of the school
get involved in making their science
projects and displaying them to the
spectators. Usually, the fair is
arranged after the first terminal
exam and before the summer
vacation. The students are given
almost a month time to prepare
their projects. The fair usually kicks
off for three days where the
judgments of the projects are done
by science teachers of other schools
and collegs on the second day. Activities:
Arranging exhibiting science
classes to make the bookish
science more enjoyable. Organizing inquisitive science
projects in or outside the
prescribed curricula in order to
encourage creative endeavors. Organizing Science fair every year
to popularize science concepts. Arranging science and general
knowledge competition, essay
competition, extempore speech
and seminar about scientific
ideas. Arranging scientific study tour for
practical knowledge. Publishing yearly club magazine. Arranging scientific film festival. Arranging workshop among the
members for different science
Olympiads. Process to be a member:
A notice is given to the students at
the beginning of the academic year. Interested students collect the
membership form from the
โModerator of the clubโ. The
students get the membership after
submitting their forms. Almost every year after collecting
new members of the club a executive
panel of students (general consisting
of ten boys) is formed by the direct
voting of the club members. The
members of the E. P give the
direction of the club activities by
the help of the moderators
throughout the year. Arranging exhibiting science
classes to make the bookish
science more enjoyable.
