Today, we successfully concluded the Baseline Results Validation Workshop of the Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART) Project, jointly organized by DM WATCH LIMITED and the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). The workshop brought together policymakers, development practitioners, researchers, and sector experts to review and validate key findings from the baseline study of the SMART project.
Rich discussions focused on vital topics such as microenterprise performance, climate resilience, Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP), gender inclusion, and pathways for evidence-based program design. This collaborative validation process strengthened analytical rigor, ensured contextual accuracy, and reinforced stakeholder ownership. It has laid a strong foundation for informed decision-making and impactful implementation in the upcoming phases of the project.
The workshop was chaired by Mr. Moshiar Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF. The session began with a welcome speech by Mr. A.K.M. DM WATCH is honoured to have conducted the "Baseline Study on Plastic Waste Management Situation in Bangladesh" as part of the Plastics Circularity Project, funded by UNDP Bangladesh and The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF). This multi-country initiative spanned ten countries, all united in the mission to reduce plastic pollution and promote circular, sustainable solutions for urban cities.
Today, we hosted the Study Findings Sharing and Validation Workshop in Dhaka, where the study team leader, Professor Dr. Mostafizur Rahman, presented the key findings to a diverse group of stakeholders. The event was graced by Md. Ziaul Haque, Additional Director General of the Department of Environment, Bangladesh, and Sarder M. Asaduzzaman, Assistant Resident Representative of UNDP Bangladesh, who served as the Chief Guest and Special Guest, respectively. Md. Bayazid Hasan, Managing Director of DM WATCH LIMITED, also participated and expressed gratitude to the study team, stakeholders, and all workshop participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement.
Participants from various organizations offered constructive feedback and shared their perspectives on the study’s findings. The insights gathered will be instrumental in shaping future interventions for plastic waste management, driving the transition toward a circular economy in Bangladesh and across the participating countries.
