Second Meeting of the BASIS Standing Committee on Startups
The second meeting of the BASIS Standing Committee on Startups was convened on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2:30 pm at the BASIS Boardroom. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Syed Saiful Islam, CEO of Global Technology Advancement and Chairman of the Committee. Mr. Mohammad Abdul Majid, Member In-Charge of the Committee and a member of the BASIS Associate Committee, was also present at the meeting.
The meeting began with a strong focus on initiatives aimed at promoting startup platforms, preparing ventures to become investment-ready, and providing structured guidelines to support their growth journey. We actively organize consultancy sessions, growth seminars, and stakeholder training programs to enhance knowledge and build capacity within the startup ecosystem.
Through workshops with banking authorities and roundtable discussions between banks and startups, we aim to improve access to finance and strengthen collaboration. Our efforts also include facilitating matchmaking among startups, investors, and stakeholders, enabling startup listings, and ensuring fund security. We are working to develop structured startup pools covering key areas such as operations, planning, marketing and branding, and digital presence. In addition, we host “Startup Talk” sessions with bankers, BASIS, and other key stakeholders to encourage meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
Furthermore, we collaborate with BASIS and universities to create internship opportunities, nurturing future talent and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through these comprehensive initiatives, we strive to build an inclusive, connected, and investment-friendly environment that empowers startups to grow and succeed.
At the meeting, a total of 10 members attended, of whom 08 were present in person and 02 joined virtually. The Co-Chair of the committee Mr. Mohammad Shahriar Khan, Managing Director, nexkraft limited, Mr. Sharif Ahmed, Managing Director, Periscope Labs Limited were present while member of the committee Mr. Akram Hossain, Managing partner, Nevronus Systems, Mr. Sk Khalidujjaman, Chief Marketing Officer, Waadaa Ltd, Mr. Showmik Zaman Chowdhury, Chairman, NSM Limited and Mr. Abu Huraira Bin Aman, CTO, ThemeXpert were also present.
The Co-Chair of the committee Dr. Saad F. Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO, Infonex Software International LTD, and the Member of the committee Ms. Zobaida Chowdhury, Managing Director, EkkBaz Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd were also attend the meeting virtually.

Opening Ceremony of B-TopSE Program Basic Series Held at BITM
On April 10, 2026, the opening ceremony of the B-TopSE Program Basic Series batch-1 was held at the BASIS Institute of Technology & Management Limited (BITM), located in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka. This transformative initiative, designed to enhance software engineering capabilities in Bangladesh, is jointly implemented by JICA, BCC, and BASIS under the JICA-BCC-BASIS Technical Cooperation Project (TCP).
At the event, the chief guest Mr. Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Joint Secretary, Local Government Division & Administrator, BASIS, he underscored the program’s strong potential to significantly contribute to the transformation of BASIS members company and Bangladesh’s ICT sector.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Golam Sarwar, Director of BD ITEC, BCC, highlighted the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation. He highlighted that in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, adaptability and cooperation are essential for sustainable progress.
Md. Rowshan Kamal James, BASIS Associate Committee Member and Sub-Committee In-Charge of BITM, expressed optimism about the program’s role in strengthening Bangladesh’s ICT sector and further deepening the long-standing Japan-Bangladesh relations, which have flourished since the post-liberation period.
The event was also graced by distinguished representatives from JICA, including KATSUKI Naho, JICA Expert (Project Coordinator), and Farzana Sharlin, Admin Officer of the JICA-BCC-BASIS TCP.
Mr. Md. Mofazzal Hossain, Coordinator, represented BITM. Also, a good number of BASIS, participants also attended the program.
The training session was conducted by Shahidul Islam, Senior Machine Learning Engineer at HeadBlocks, who brought valuable industry expertise to the session.
A notable number of enthusiastic trainees actively participated in the session, reflecting the increasing demand and interest in advanced software architecture skills among Bangladesh’s IT professionals. This milestone marks another step forward in developing a skilled workforce aligned with global software engineering standards.
