We started the project on 26th January, 2013. Smallfoot is a youth driven project to educate underprivileged students.

A sound education should not be an exclusive and privileged commodity, especially, when underprivileged children need it more than anything else. Smallfoot is a youth based community service effort based on this principle. No kid deserves an autom
ated pass to the underprivileged class. Not since we can easily make a difference. The Smallfoot project runs on a simple principle: To educate the children with quality education for life and especially for the tough times they will encounter ahead with one step at a time. We identified one of the underprivileged areas of Dhaka, Mirpur to run the project and we have teenagers and young activists willing to make a difference supporting our cause. Classroom experience serves for a lot of future decisions one makes in life. Underprivileged children are no more different in potentials than we are. It’s important that we make learning a fun experience. In our efforts to implement the idea of a truly fulfilling classroom experience and a sound education for underprivileged children, support is very important. We want to:
1) Provide the underprivileged children with high quality learning experience.
2) Support the children throughout their experiences with the society.
3) Extend our assistance to more kids based on strength of supporters.
4) Involve our supporters with community service efforts.

In 2015, 3 members of Smallfoot was qualified to participate in the regional finals of Hult Prize Competition for providing solution to the problem of "Early Childhood Education" in urban slums. Among 20,000 applicants from over 150 countries and 500+ universities, only 300 were chosen to compete in this prestigious competition, our team from BRAC University was one of them. The Hult Prize is the world's largest student competition for social good, where universities from around the world compete for a start up funding of USD 1 million. We pledged to operate a school under the precondition; 30 support groups agree upon coming together to provide the underprivileged kids with a truly constructive classroom experience. Alongside the support groups and team members, Smallfoot is also assisted and supported by iEARN-BD, YES Alumni Bangladesh and Techynaf.

Origin:
The idea of Smallfoot came from Sh*tab Daiyan Akash, a student of Notre Dame College in the beginning of 2012. He discussed it with his friends Prince, Isbat, Monzu, Zawad, Ishmam, Tausif, Ahnaf and soon started supporting the project. In one year, all these people started giving input for Smallfoot and finally in January 26, 2013, the first class of Smallfoot Elementary School was held. With the support of YES Alumni Bangladesh from 2013, Smallfoot is running as a youth driven project.
