Sunshine Learning Center aims to prepare our students for success in their post-school lives including college and/or care
ers. About Us:
Sunshine Learning Center is designed to assist students who have a documented learning disability, ADHD, or a processing deficit. While these students have the potential to learn, they may struggle to reach their potential in a regular classroom. The goal of the program is to encourage students who may have become frustrated with learning by helping them realize their true potential. We do this by recognizing their strengths and giving them the tools they need to gain success in areas of weakness. Students are carefully nurtured and encouraged, but also challenged to develop strong study skills and work habits. We use a mixture of OT, Speech Therapist, Behavioral Assessment, modification technique, and lastly we try to incorporate normal day to day routine as much as possible to give our children a feeling of “normalcy”. How SLC Operates:
Sunshine Learning Center has small group resource classes that are available for students which also include various therapists and subject teachers who are rotated throughout the week to give the students a balanced therapy and education. We will include Physical therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Behavior and Educational Psychologists, artists, musicians and various specially trained teachers in various subjects. Additionally, we help students to catch up to grade level or who would benefit from a small group environment with a teacher who specializes in teaching students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and processing deficits. Students are assessed and grouped according to ability. We aim for best practices for instructing students with disabilities and eventually help them prepare to be successful in general education classes and life.
