🌄 অধিকাংশ ঐতিহাসিকের মতে, মুঘল সম্রাট "আকবর"১৫৮৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে (৯৯২ হিজরি) বাংলা সনের প্রবর্তন করেন। তবে তিনি এটি গণনা শুরু করিয়েছিলেন তাঁর সিংহাসন আরোহণের বছর অর্থাৎ ১৫৫৬ খ্রিস্টাব্দ থেকে।

🌾 বঙ্গাব্দের সূচনা: কৃষি ও খাজনার মেলবন্ধন
প্রাচীনকালে হিজরি ক্যালেন্ডার অনুযায়ী কর আদায় করা হতো। কিন্তু চান্দ্র মাস হওয়ায় তা বাংলার কৃষকদের ফসল কাটার সময়ের সাথে মিলত না। কৃষকদের সুবিধার্থে সম্রাট আকবর জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানী "ফতেহউল্লাহ সিরাজী"-কে সৌর সন ও হিজরি সনের সমন্বয়ে একটি নতুন ক্যালেন্ডার তৈরির নির্দেশ দেন, যা আজ আমাদের 'বঙ্গাব্দ' বা বাংলা সন।

📜 Origin and Significance of the Bengali Calendar🪘

Historically, Mughal Emperor "Akbar" is credited with introducing the Bengali Calendar (Bangla Shon) in 1584 AD. However, the calculation was backdated to 1556 AD, the year of his accession to the throne.

🌾 Background: The Synergy of Harvest and Tax
In the past, taxes were collected based on the Hijri calendar. Since it is a lunar calendar, it didn't align with the seasonal harvest cycles of Bengal. To ease the burden on farmers, Emperor Akbar commissioned the royal astronomer "Fathullah Shirazi" to create a new solar-based calendar, merging the Islamic Hijri year with the Bengali solar cycle. This gave birth to the tradition of 'Pahela Baishakh' and 'Halkhata'.
