After eight intense weeks of training, a new cohort of drill instructors has graduated, with nearly 30 national and regional participants passing out at the All Arms Advanced Drill and Ceremonial Course parade at the Barbados Coast Guard.

Students already in secondary school are offering advice to those preparing to sit the exam. Drawing from their own experiences, they are encouraging younger students to stay focused, practise consistently and manage their time carefully in the final days. Here Arya Carter of the Barbados SDA Secondary School shares her tips.

That husk by-product is not to be wasted either! OUR Caribbean culture has always been one of sustainability, even before it was the trend. Coconut husk is often saved for use as potting medium for plants, for crafting natural fibers used to make brushes, doormats and ropes and is also used as fuel for fireside cooking!
One staple Caribbean crop, so many uses!
