⚡ Shaping the Future of Energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina

On 23 June 2026, CREDI brought together representatives of public institutions, the energy sector, the private sector, international organisations, academia and civil society for a consultative event dedicated to the future of energy transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event featured the presentation of CREDI's new report, Energy Transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina, prepared in cooperation with the GAP Institute within the Green Industrial Policy (GIP) Framework for the Western Balkans, supported by the Open Society Foundations - Western Balkans.

Participants also had the opportunity to hear a case study presented by Almir Bajtarević from Heidelberg Materials Cement BiH d.d. Kakanj, showcasing the company's experience in addressing the challenges of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) through decarbonisation and innovation.
The event concluded with a panel discussion, "The Future of the Energy Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina," featuring Selma Hasić (GIZ Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Anes Kazagić (Elektroprivreda BiH). The discussion explored key priorities for accelerating the country's energy transition, including renewable energy development, electricity grid modernisation, industrial competitiveness, energy efficiency and financing the transition.

Thank you to all speakers and participants for contributing to an engaging and constructive discussion on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina's energy sector.
