At M8 Racing, we pride ourselves on taking extra care of our horses and always looking for ways to keep them fresh and happy throughout their racing preparation.
One of our favourite training methods is incorporating the river into their routine.
Walking against the current provides a strenuous, low-impact workout that helps build strength and stamina, while also being enjoyable for the horses. They get the chance to splash around, cool off, and mentally freshen up — making it the perfect balance of hard work and fun.

A little bit about M8 racing….
Heath Maclean’s journey in horse racing began at a young age, working alongside his grandfather, a seasoned trainer and jockey. This early exposure ignited a lifelong passion for horses and the racing industry.
After relocating to Melbourne, Heath gained invaluable experience riding trackwork for several prominent trainers. Following a break from racing, he rekindled his love for the sport and returned to the industry around 15 years ago. Since then, he has operated from both Geelong and Wodonga, building up his reputation! 
At M8 Racing, Heath runs a small stable where every horse receives his personal attention. Known for presenting his horses in immaculate and fit condition on race day.
Heath and his team take pride in tailoring training and care programs to suit each horse’s unique needs.
