We know hospital visits can feel overwhelming for some children and young people, especially when routines change or environments feel unfamiliar.

Perth Children’s Hospital has launched a new neurodiversity affirming care resource, codeveloped with young people and families through the Keeping Kids in No Distress (KKIND) program.

The resource shares practical tips, helpful information and available supports to make hospital visits feel safer, calmer and more comfortable.

Access the resource here:https://pch.health.wa.gov.au/~/media/Files/Hospitals/PCH/General-documents/Our-Services/KKIND-Neurodiversity-affirming-care.pdf

There were over 4000 submissions to the Senate Inquiry last week and the vast majority of witnesses - even those who agree with these reforms - said the draft NDIS Bill should not pass in its current form.

The Shadow Minister has listened.
The Crossbench have listened.
The Greens have listened.

We call on the government to listen too.

We are hoping that the Senate Committee picks up the compelling evidence given when they pass down their report tomorrow.

We are here for our community, and we will continue to share accessible information.

Yesterday, Mel from DDWA delivered an informative workshop for parents at the Leeming Senior High School Education Support Unit. 🏫

The session focused on the Disability Support Pension (DSP) and work, as part of her Supported Employment Advocacy (SEA) project.

Mel supported families by providing key information about topics, including:
- Disability Support Pension (DSP) and work
- Eligibility and how to apply
- Medical evidence and supporting documents

She had a great time connecting with families and providing parents the tools to support their young people's pathways.

A special thank you to all who joined her!

Did you know? 🤔
Your young person may be eligible for the Disability Support Pension (DSP) from age 16.

That is one of the many things our families tell us they wish they knew sooner.

Tomorrow's online workshop, Approaching Adulthood, is for families and carers of young people, aged 14–18, with intellectual disability.

We will break down key changes to help you feel more prepared and confident, including:
• Centrelink, NDIS and Medicare changes
• Medicare privacy after age 14
• Carer payments/allowances after age 16
• NDIS nominees

Feeling sick is stressful enough without having to worry about finding a doctor's appointment. 🤒

Recent changes to Medicare mean doctors now receive a boost when bulk billing all patients.

What does that mean for you?
- More GP clinics with bulk billing appointments
- Fewer out-of-pocket costs for you
- Better access to healthcare for everyone
