Student work!!! 🥰
Mikiko, a fellow Ikebana student, attended a Boro & Sashiko workshop with me in March and diligently finished her sashiko stitching at home. She chose indigo Dabu (hand block printed with mud resist paste) dyed fabric on a blue linen base and did her Sashiko stitching with matching thread.
I sewed it up for her into a Komebukuro, a Japanese style rice pouch/drawstring bag. Modelled by my pretty blue Daruma from

Results from yesterday morning’s workshop at my Studio.
Five lovely participants, five different outcomes!
Got to love the color combinations they came up with using my curated fabric packs plus a few added pieces...🤭😁 our half-time snack was a delicious gluten, refined sugar and dairy free lemon & honey cake, free recipe from
Four drawstring bags and one zipper pouch are in the making. Can’t wait to see them all finished!!

Susie attended a Boro & Sashiko workshop early May and diligently finished her sashiko stitching at home. She chose a more muted palette of beige and brown patches with a pop of fuchsia and did her Sashiko stitching with matching thread.
She sewed it into a flat zipper pouch with rounded corners and inserted a cream zipper with silver teeth. Well done Susie!!
