It’s that time of week again! ⏰ coming at you with number nine on our EPIC list! 💎

#9 Erskine Falls -

This one is for the outdoor adventurers and nature lovers and it is absolutely spectacular. Erskine Falls can be found in the hinterland of Lorne, one hour from Torquay. The falls may be just minutes from the township but they feel miles away.

Part of the Otways rainforest, the area is home to dreamy waterfalls, trickling creeks, lush green ferns and towering eucalyptus trees. The Erskine Falls plummet 30 metres into the gully and just a few minutes up the track you’ll also come across Straw Falls. They may be smaller but they’re every bit as gorgeous as they cascade down the terraced rocks, giving off a magical mist.

How you experience the waterfalls depends on how active you’re feeling. You can park at the top and get all the views with minimal effort; you can make the steep descent down to the bottom of the falls and do some exploring of the trails; or if you’ve got a bit of hiking experience under your belt, you can follow the river all the way up from Lorne. This 7.5 km (each way) walk will take around three hours, so pack a picnic for lunch.

Our top tip is to wear good walking shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. The trail can get very wet and muddy and it crosses the river several times where you’ll need to clamber over slippery rocks and logs. Have fun and try not to fall in!

Cheers for reading along and don’t forget to follow along for more of our weekly GOR gems! 💎

If 2020 was all about hyper-local travel (*cough* travelling to our backyards) what will 2021 bring? If the past year has taught us anything, it’s to cherish every second spent travelling because you never know when it might be your last budget flight or bumpy bus ride.

Even if you're not a New Years Resolution maker (or keeper!) you'll want to jump on the bandwagon when you hear how good ours are.
