With over 2.5 years as a Non-Executive Director at one of Australia’s leading banks, I’ve seen firsthand how strong governance, financial oversight, and legal expertise form the backbone of an effective board.

But what I noticed is the lack of skills in marketing, social media, stakeholder, influencer and reputation management. Speaking from my own experience, I was about two decades younger than my fellow board members, and most of them weren’t on social media.

Boards are typically well-stacked with deep expertise in finance, legal, and operations. These are essential pillars of good governance.
