Today, we pause and join the , honoring the tiny lives that have left a lasting impact. 🕯️💫 As doulas, we walk alongside families in times of joy and sorrow, and we know that the journey of grief is one no parent should face alone.

On this Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, we remember and hold space for every little soul lost during pregnancy or infancy and send love to the families who carry them in their hearts every day. You are seen, your loss is felt, and your baby’s light continues to shine. 💜

A different post than I had anticipated nearing the end of !

My littlest love was in the hospital today, with respiratory distress (another thank you to for arming all the parents with this important info!).

I was asked all the regular questions, how much is he drinking and eating. I explained that he hasn’t had much of an appetite but still drinking a decent amount of water, and that he still breastfeeds. This was the conversation:

Doctor: oh… how old is he again?
Me: he’s 3.
Doctor: oh ok. So is that just for.. um.. comfort or?
Me: yes, sometimes.
Doctor: ok. So is it for nutrition or comfort?
Me: both I imagine. As well as hydration and I guess antibodies in times like this.
Doctor: ok. How many ml does he have?
Me: I couldn’t tell you… usually once or twice a day but about 6 times in the last 24 hours. I can’t tell you how much volume.
Doctor: right ok. I’ll just put down that he breastfeeds out of habit then.

How can we expect the general population to accept and support breastfeeding, when our medical practitioners still don’t understand the process and benefits?

We need to start there, in my opinion.

Happy World Doula Week!

The purpose of World Doula Week is to empower doulas all over the world to improve the physiological, social, emotional, and psychological health of women, newborns and families in birth and in the postpartum period.

When I’m asked to describe the role of a doula, I always struggle. It’s not ✨just✨ about lowering interventions and increasing birth satisfaction.

Having doula support is a feeling. A feeling of love, support and unwavering confidence through the vulnerability of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. A feeling of deep reverence and connection.

So celebrate your doula today! 😍 Sending all my love to my own incredible doulas and ♥️
