Council meeting this week at Strathpine.
This Wednesday’s agenda includes a number of governance and policy items, including a new Data Breach Policy, an amended 2025/26 Council Budget (Q3 update), and a policy on pesticide use on Council-controlled land and assets.
We will also consider hall hire fees for the Pioneer Hall at Old Petrie Town.
In Economic Development, there is a request for the Deputy Mayor to travel to New Zealand.
In Planning and Development, Council will again consider a development application in Bongaree for a multiple dwelling development (45 dwellings), along with short-term accommodation, and associated commercial uses including a food and drink outlet, office and shop.
In confidential session, Council will discuss procurement of an advanced offset, a proposed land acquisition in Mango Hill, the Moreton Bay Central PsiQuantum agreement for lease, and a new organisational structure. You can see the basis for confidentiality on each of these items on the council meetings page.

Last month I had a great morning out at Plot 4504 Market Garden listening to the views of people in and around Narangba.
I’ll be there again on Saturday the 20th June from 9AM - 11AM.
Come say hi! Get some local veggies and enjoy a coffee (hopefully in the sun!).

I recently got a view of the Youngs Crossing Bridge from a bit of a different perspective. The work is progressing quite well (notwithstanding the recent bouts of rain). There were about 80 workers on site that day preping the land, formwork and pouring concrete. It’s an incredibly large and complex project and what makes it even more incredible is that they won’t be closing the road at all during the build!

Today we passed the 2026-27 council budget.
Feedback through MoretonSay Surveys and broader community engagement strongly support investing in better roads and transport, strengthening community safety, protecting our environment, and supporting the facilities, programs and spaces that bring our community together. These are the focus areas of this budget.
Division 11:
I’m glad to announce that Council has begun an operational project to investigate work on short, medium and long term solutions to local traffic at Narangba Rail crossing. Given the complexity of this area with State rail infrastructure, local roads and the interplay with future Brisbane West Highway Alternative, it is not enough for State and Council to continue to pass the buck. This is why we are undertaking a local traffic planning project with outcomes to inform future capital works.
Key Capital projects:
- Upgrade of Roderick A Cruice Park in Dayboro.
- Historical building restoration at Old Petrie Town, preserving our history and revitalising a thriving community asset.
- Road rehabilitation and resurfacing across Division 11 including: Harris Avenue in Narangba, Greggs Road in Samford Valley, Boongala Court in Kobble Creek, Laceys Creek Road in Laceys Creek, and Highcrest Street in Ocean View.
- Renewal of playground equipment at Windemere Avenue Park, Narangba.
- New active transport bridge and footpath at Mount Mee Road across Terrors Creek, Dayboro.
- Upgraded intersection at Youngs Road and Oakey Flat Road, Narangba, including multi-lane traffic signals and dedicated pedestrian crossing facilities to improve safety.
- Major Landslip repair at the Goat Track between Highvale and Mount Nebo

Dayboro Skate Park Renewal Update 🛹
After many disappointing delays, works are continuing at the Dayboro skate park, with the renewal now approximately 65% complete.
Recent works have included earthworks, concrete elements and drainage installation, with progress continuing on the new skatepark bowl and slab areas.
Upcoming works will include further skatepark concrete installation, footpath and landscaping works, as well as installation of the basketball half court.
The contractor has completed approval hurdles regarding the pipe that was encountered earlier in the build. I’m monitoring this one closely as it was started before I even came into the job, so I’m as keen as all of you to see it finished!

🏡 Have your say on the future of Moreton Bay
City of Moreton Bay is developing a new planning scheme to help guide how our city grows and changes over the coming years.
A planning scheme governs:
- What can be built where - shops, businesses and housing, to balance jobs close to homes
- Building types, density and transport needs,
- Green space and biodiversity corridors
- Neighbourhood character
This is your chance to share what matters most to you when it comes to housing, infrastructure, local identity, environment, natural hazards, and jobs close to home.
Community feedback gathered now will help inform Council’s decision-making and shape our city for years to come. So this is a really important opportunity.
