FC Strathmore Split

One of my achievements was removing the Concrete Pitch from Dunstan Reserve (Brunswick City) and the hard turf from Campbell Reserve (Moreland City) over 6 years ago. Just to be clear, the Cricket Clubs were provided with alternative venues.

This isn’t about choosing 1 sport over another. It’s about making sure everyone, whether they’re playing cricket, football, or another can enjoy safe, high-quality facilities.

I still don’t understand how any facility still has Concrete on the ground. This was in the 70’s and 80’s, we must move with the times.

Cricket needs and must have a place but how can we risk allowing football players to use multi-purpose grounds with concrete pitches.

There are modern solutions that could allow both sports to coexist i.e. lower the turf pitch, replace with grass and when cricket season starts, elevate the pitch.

Both sports are important to the community. Let’s make it safe for everyone who is competing on the field.
