Important new study - hot off the press - discussing the negative impact of glyphosate (Round-up) on the microbiome: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10561581/
The research suggests that glyphosate ingestion by humans could potentially select for pathogenic bacteria in the gut, as keystone beneficial species, like Bifidobacterium and Faecalibacterium are quite sensitive to glyphosate; whereas potential pathogens like E. coli and Salmonella are more resistant. The impact on Faecalibacterium is especially worrying, as this is often the key butyrate-producing species in our guts and has potent anti-inflammatory effects - both in the gut and body-wide.
