On the road with Angus Dalgliesh a couple of weeks ago out at Julia Creek visiting producers using forage and grain sorghum in their operations for grain, grazing, hay, silage and cattle feeding.

It was really interesting seeing the different ways producers are utilising sorghum in northern systems depending on their country, seasons and business goals.

Forage sorghum can be a great option for producing bulk feed, filling feed gaps and taking pressure off native pastures to allow paddocks time to recover.

Grain sorghum also has a place in weaner and backgrounding programs as an energy source to help keep cattle growing and maintain weight gains through tougher periods.

Good to see producers continuing to look at different ways to improve flexibility and productivity within their businesses across northern Australia.
