The Japan Karate Association (JKA) practices the original Shotokan karate style, as taught by Funakoshi Gichen Sensei, founder of modern day Karate. JKA is headquartered in Japan and the JKA budo karate we uncompromisingly practice is specified by a Japanese-based Chief Instructor. Kime is generated by the balance of strong stances, focus, timing and speed of techniques.
‘Point scoring’ is not the purpose of JKA karate- our focus is on the importance of dedication, commitment and discipline.

We are delighted to announce the upcoming JKA Australia National Seminar to be held in August 2024.
This year, we have the pleasure of hosting Izumiya Shihan (JKA Senior Managing Director) and Ueda Sensei (JKA HQ instructor) as our guest instructors, both of whom are internationally renowned and highly-regarded instructors from JKA Honbu.
Attendance to this seminar is an opportunity not to be missed.
The dates and locations are as follows:
21 & 22 August 2024 – BRISBANE
23, 24 & 25 August 2024 – MELBOURNE
