2023 WA Architecture – Voting for the People's Choice Award

The operable timber screen ‘louvred’ façade allows the home to open up to the view and eastern light or close down for privacy and shade to suit. The façade is customisable and its appearance thus responds to usage and the elements - sculptural play which gives something back to the recreational reserve opposite.
The louvred timber façade concept is reflected throughout the design with extensive use of louvred glass windows allowing for enhanced cross ventilation across the dwelling. Passive solar orientation is ideal on the lot and minimises heat-gain from east and west facing elevations whilst maximising northern aspect for winter sun.
