Titration Stakes 2026
Nine of Shenton’s most enthusiastic future chemists have just competed alongside other Year 12 students from all over WA in the Titration Stakes competition. Our students expertly applied their skills of accurately titrating to determine the potency of an unknown chemical. They applied outstanding fineness, determination and precision to determine with great accuracy the acid content of a substance. The techniques these students have honed are used in laboratories to analyse for contaminants in drinking water, purity of medicines and detection of performance-enhancing drugs in athletes. We warmly acknowledge the time our students donated after school to practice and compete as well as the support of our Laboratory technicians to supply the chemicals needed for the event.
