"Without truth-telling, Reconciliation, healing, moving forward can't happen. Because without understanding how the past has brought us to the present, we will be stuck in a cycle of racism, victim-blaming, ignorance and indifference."
Powerful words from Whadjuk Noongar journalist and commentator Narelda Jacobs, the keynote speaker at the 2026 WA Reconciliation Week Breakfast.
The HOPE Executive Team and Board were honoured to attend this year's breakfast, which served as a powerful reminder that Reconciliation is grounded in truth-telling, shared responsibility and collective action.
We extend our sincere thanks to the speakers and Aboriginal leaders who so generously shared their knowledge, lived experience and perspectives, offering wisdom, challenges and hope as we continue the journey toward Reconciliation together.

National Reconciliation Week starts today, and this year’s theme — All In — is more than just a slogan, it’s a powerful call to action.
At HOPE, we believe meaningful change happens when we bridge communities, cultures and lived experiences.
As a strong supporter of Reconciliation, embedded across HOPE is a commitment to listen deeply, amplify voices and champion truth-telling.
When strong allies like HOPE act as a collective, Reconciliation is at its strongest.
Today, and every day, we share the responsibility of moving Reconciliation forward.
Join us in taking meaningful steps, toward a more just and respectful future for all.

We are thrilled to announce that our Street Yarning team has been nominated as a finalist in Community Support Award at the 2026 WA Men’s Mental Wellbeing Awards.
This nomination really recognises the work of our Outreach Worker Andrew Kewley and our team of volunteers who head out into the Armadale community each week to fire up the barbecue, cook a feed for all and create a safe space for people to yarn and connect.
The work of this team goes far beyond cooking a free meal. Alongside the food and practical support, they offer safe and consistent connection to men, women and families experiencing social isolation, homelessness, justice involvement, cultural disconnection and disengagement from traditional services.
Their meaningful contribution to the mental wellbeing of those they engage with cannot be understated.
We are so proud of our Street Yarning team – especially our volunteers – their ongoing commitment to and compassion for the community is a perfect example of everything we stand for.
Congratulations also to the other nominees: Justin Lewis, founder of MenTALL, Dr Brett Dellar from ELEVAtum Leadership, Gerhard Rousseau, founder of Men of Hope, and Darren Peterson, from Take Charge Wellbeing.
We look forward to meeting you at the Awards Night in June.

Each year on the first Wednesday of May, we remember and honour those who lost their lives due to family and domestic violence and stand in support of those who continue to experience family and domestic violence in our communities.
Together, we will reflect on the impact of this national crisis and reaffirm the importance of the work to be done to save lives and ensure that our communities can be free from violence and fear.
FDV is an import focus for HOPE. Not only do we offer support services to victim-survivors, but we also operate early prevention services for those at risk of perpetuating the cycle of abuse.
If you or a loved one would like to engage with the services mentioned above, contact us via website enquiry and we will put you in touch with our team.
