Getting to know the new puppy.

Bring your puppy home when you will be at home for at least a few days like beginning of a weekend. Introduce your puppy to all members of the family, but be sure not too overwhelm them with loud noises and to much activities. Try to have a name ready for your puppy so that you can start using it straight away.

How To Teach a Dog To Sit

There are different ways to accomplish this.

Stand in front of your puppy with his treats. Wait till the puppy sits, tell them “good boy or girl” then give them a treat. Next, step backwards 2 or 3 steps to encourage them to stand. Wait for your puppy to sit again. Give another treat when your puppy sits. Do this a few times, you can begin saying “sit” right as they begin to sit.
Try not to physically put your puppy into the sitting position. This can be confusing and or upsetting to some dogs.

Training Tip!
You need to keep training sessions short and fun and end each session on a positive note. If you think your dog is having a difficult time with the training or being “stubborn,” change the speed of the training and the amount of the rewards. Ask yourself this, do i need to slow down the training and make it easier, or does my dog need more treats if i work him harder.
