📍Napoleon Street, Cottesloe

Napoleon Street is one of the historic commercial and social centres of Cottesloe. As Cottesloe developed from a small coastal settlement in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Napoleon Street emerged as the suburb’s main shopping strip, serving both local residents and visitors travelling between Perth and Fremantle. 🏖️

By the early twentieth century, Napoleon Street had become a recognised commercial hub. Several buildings from this period still survive, including shopfronts dating back to 1902.

The street continued to prosper after the Second World War, bringing increased prosperity to the area in the 1960’s, with further business development along Napoleon Street and Stirling Highway. During this period the strip expanded to include boutiques, cafés and specialty retailers, helping establish the village atmosphere for which the area is now known. ☕🛍️

Today, Napoleon Street remains a blend of heritage and contemporary development, but despite these changes, the street retains its significance as one of Cottesloe’s most recognisable local centres.
