The more I research sustainable wares for my new abode - rugs made using recycled leather from , ethically made b**b bathmats from - the more I'm convinced that the most pressing thing this little home actually needs is a sweet pupper 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But then of course, no dog could ever live up to the joy and sweetness of , so I guess I'll just wait until I can get back to Perth to hang out with him and his equally wonderful humans ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the meantime, what are your favourite sustainable homewares stores? I'd love to see your suggestions!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Right now, I'm a tad obsessed with and - even though I absolutely can't afford anything new - and I'm holding out for a soap dish from the very best, .ceramic 😍

A tale of Italy, the one that you dream of 🇮🇹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I first arrived in Milano, wide-eyed and jetlagged, I had no idea how to get from the airport to my airbnb.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d never travelled alone before. I was 18 when I first left Perth. I flew to Singapore where I was met by my very excited friend and her very not-excited father (it was 2am, after all).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I travelled to India with my uncle, who’d spent the past two years calling that breathtaking country home.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then, I found myself in Italy. Alone. Woefully unprepared. Oh so eager to explore (if only I could find my airbnb).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I spied a sign for the bus and rolled my suitcase over the bumpy road, flimsy jacket doing nothing to protect me from the damp cold. I stumbled over the word ‘biglietto’.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A large Italian man with thick gloves and a balding pate laughed and threw my suitcase under the bus, “nooo worrries”. I found my purse but he kept laughing, “ma dai, vai vai! Su!”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Attempts to buy a ticket for the next bus were equally futile (and rather less friendly), but somehow I arrived at a bus stop where a boy with a white puffer jacket and impossibly voluminous hair was waiting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Rhianna, ciao! Welcome to Eeetaly!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Between his easygoing demeanour and the bus driver's cheeky nonchalance, Italy had me charmed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8 years later, it’s a charm that holds true - from the market guy who throws extra grapefruit in my bag, to the door ladies who are always ready with advice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Never cook what his mother cooks! Cosi ti fai solo problemi!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There's a reason I fought so hard to stay in this country. C'è un ragione che non mollerò mai. It's because of them. The everyday Italians, ready to help & charm, laugh & advise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Italy you dream of does exist. And it's here, (im)patiently awaiting your return ❤️
