Say hello to our July wildflower! 💙
The blue squill (Chamaescilla corymbosa) is a dainty native perennial herb which brightens up the bushland in late winter and early spring.
This species enjoys the damp, heavier soils of the Park, so low lying, shady areas along the Wununga and Goorloorto Trails are great places to spy this adorable bushland gem. It typically flowers from now through to December.
Remember, this one only grows to just 20cm high, so look down! 🧐

Tomorrow is World Snake Day, so its a great time to give one of our most striking front-fanged slitherers some love (no pun intended! 😉).
The tiger snake (Notechis scutatus), or noorn in Noongar, is a beauty, don't you think? 🐍 Their shiny black backs and yellow-orange underbellies that wrap up in those distinctive tiger-like stripes make for an impressive visage. 😍
Tiger snakes hang out around the wetlands, as they feed on the frogs, lizards, birds and small mammals that frequent them. You may even be lucky enough to spot one swimming in search of a meal!
And while they can get a bit moody if threatened, they tend to avoid us noisy humans!
ℹ Of course, if you do happen to come across a tiger snake when visiting, whether driving or walking, remember they are protected in Western Australia. Just wait for them to move past, or move away from them - then everyone remains safe and happy!
