If students aren’t speaking, they aren’t learning the language.
But speaking only works when students are supported.
That means simple sentence structures, modelling and guided pair work.
This is where most language lessons fall down.

Students don’t learn a language by memorising word lists.
They learn when they understand what they hear and see, and when the language is repeated in meaningful ways.
In primary classrooms, this means:
*using clear visuals
*teaching in context
*giving students repeated exposure
