UWA Jazz Club

istence, UWAJC has organised numerous on-campus jam sessions, including jams at the UWA Tavern on 30 April 2012 and 2013 to commemorate International Jazz Day. The Club also organised and promoted a performance by a leading Western Australian jazz-fusion group, "Sly", at the Tav in 2011. More recently, in February 2013, an ensemble of UWAJC members performed a selection of jazz standards to a large and appreciative audience in UWA's Hackett Café as part of the University's spectacular Centenary celebration, "LUMINOUSnight". Later in 2013, club members started performing regularly in the UWA Tavern. They also organised and participated in a workshop with world-renowned saxophonist and jazz educator Jamie Oehlers. UWAJC is not just a club for musicians. Avid listeners or curious newcomers to jazz are also welcome. Come along to one of our listening sessions to swap tunes or hear some new sounds. If you are a musician, our jam sessions will provide you with the opportunity to have a hit with fellow club members and professional musicians. If you play jazz, love it, or just want to learn more about it, UWAJC is the club for you. - a student enrolled at UWA;
- a staff member of UWA;
- a member of the UWA Student Guild
- an associate of the UWA Student Guild;
- an Honorary Life Associate of the UWA Student Guild;
- a member of the UWA Senate;
then you can also join the UWAJC as an ordinary member. Ordinary membership is $5 for UWA Student Guild members and $7 for non-Guild members. If you have previously been one of the above then you can still join the UWAJC as an associate member.
