The lessons from last nights mini-workshop:
Hijacks & Pre-meditated movements often negatively affect the partnership.

The five agreed West Coast Swing facts are:
1. Rhythm of the Dance has walks and triple steps and their various syncopations and variations.
2. Core Pattern Structure is the push, pass, and whip.
3. Stretch and Compression: These define the space of the dance and the direction of the slot.
4. The Anchor: Where the center of gravity moves away from the partner, creating a counterbalance between the two dancers.
5. Followers walk forwards on the first two beats: This is essential to maintain the direction of the slot and the momentum of the dance.

Everything outside of those 5 facts are simply opinions - so hold them loosly - otherwise, you’ll end up dancing too much like a soldier following orders, and less like a dancer with artistic expression.
