For a short time, I also dabbled in painting murals, my clients included businesses like Waldecks & Omni Theatre, as well as commissions for feature walls in private residences (back when it was a thing). In 2009 I developed an interest in portraiture and began showing my painted works on canvas. I ran 4 solo (& 1 group) exhibitions which were well attended. ‘Recent Works’ at His Majesty’s Theatre (2009)& ‘Raincheck’ @ Subi Arts Centre (2010) both sold out. My influences included travel, theatre and, more recently, the natural world, specifically flowers & birds. I even played with fascinators and made millinery, due to a brief flirtation with feathers.�
These days I’m slightly distracted, what with a six year old in my life (who inherited my arty farty gene), but with him in school now, I intend to get stuck back in. Now living in a very inspiring, green part of Perth, surrounded by lakes & native wildlife, I’ve been keen to get creating again. My last exhibition ‘POP’ (Portraits of Perth) was inspired by pregnancy. Some pretty moody black & white inks on paper have been my focus since. Perhaps this next one should be themed on the highs & lows of motherhood with an environmental slant, ooh and feature more 3D stuff. � Stay tuned…
