Leptospirosis is bacterial infection transmitted through contact with mouse or rat urine. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle soreness, vomiting, and red eyes.
Unfortunately, this is sometimes brushed off as being a "tummy bug" or "virus" however if you or your family members are getting these symptoms on a regular basis, you may be coming into contact with rodent urine and not realise it.
Keep an eye out for other signs of rodents and consider having a pest inspection, just to be safe.

Using fly spray to get rid of bees and wasps is not a good idea for several reasons.
Fly spray may not be effective against bees and wasps, as they have different biology and behaviours than flies. It may only irritate or stun them, but not kill them.
These sprays harm beneficial insects, such as pollinators, that are essential for the environment and agriculture. They also contain chemicals that can cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems, or poisoning.
If you have a beehive or wasp nest on your property, you should engage the services of expert relocator. They will attend, remove, and relocate them to somewhere less dangerous for humans and more conducive to their very important role in the local environment.

Although they are much-loved members of our families, roaming cats pose a HUGE danger to our native wildlife, as well as to themselves.
Many cat owners think they need to let their cats roam free to be happy; however, this isn't the case. If you provide your feline family members with enough stimulation at home, they actually don't need to leave the comfort and safety of their home.
Roaming cats kill native wildlife and non-native wildlife alike. This means they may inadvertently eat baited rodents or pest species, as well as contract diseases from them. Cats inhabit almost all of Australia and continue to drive many native species toward extinction.
Roaming cats also run the risk of being injured by cars and other animals such as dogs or feral cats. With a lifespan of only two to five years compared to an indoor cat's 15-17 years, free-roaming felines are susceptible to a number of risks. These dangers range from contracting infectious diseases from other animals to picking up worms, fleas, and ticks.
Cats left to wander freely outside often get into nasty fights with other cats in the neighbourhood, which can lead to serious life-threatening injuries and illnesses, such as infected cuts and abscesses. They may also contract feline HIV.
Cat owners have an obligation to keep their cats indoors or enclosed at all times. If you're worried about your cats getting bored, consider installing an enclosure outside and providing them with plenty of toys and distractions.
