⏰ PRIME ASSET FINANCE | EOFY TAX TIP
36 days left to potentially claim the $20,000 Instant Asset Write-Off.
Perth business owners EOFY is approaching fast, and if you’re planning to purchase equipment, vehicles or business assets, timing matters.
Here’s how asset finance may help.
💰 Instant Asset Write-Off
Eligible small businesses may be able to immediately deduct the business portion of eligible asset purchases rather than depreciating them over several years.
Current threshold:
✔ Up to $20,000 per asset (ex GST)
✔ Aggregated turnover under $10M
✔ Asset must be installed and ready for use by 30 June 2026*
Why business owners use finance:
Instead of paying cash upfront, eligible businesses may finance the asset and still potentially access the deduction (subject to accountant advice and eligibility).
That can mean:
✓ Preserve working capital
✓ Spread repayments over time
✓ Potential EOFY tax benefits
⚠️ Ordering before EOFY isn’t enough.
Assets generally need to be delivered, installed and ready for use before 30 June.
Need finance sorted quickly?
At Prime Asset Finance, we structure lending solutions around your business goals and move fast to help meet EOFY deadlines.
Approvals can often be returned within 24–48 hours (subject to lender requirements).

🔐 Secured vs Unsecured Loans — What’s the Difference?
One of the most common questions we get from clients is whether they should choose a secured or unsecured loan.
Secured Loan
• Asset used as security against the loan
• Lower interest rates
• Higher borrowing limits
• Longer loan terms available
• Asset may be repossessed if repayments aren’t met
Commonly used for:
Vehicles, trucks, trailers, machinery, equipment and business assets.
Unsecured Loan
• No asset required as security
• Faster approvals
• Higher interest rates
• Lower borrowing limits
• Shorter loan terms
Commonly used for:
Working capital, personal loans and short-term business expenses.
Which one is better?
It depends entirely on what you’re funding.
If you’re purchasing a vehicle or equipment, secured finance is generally the more cost-effective option. If you need flexibility without an asset attached, an unsecured loan may be more suitable.
At Prime Asset Finance, we help structure the right solution for your situation, not just find the lowest rate.

🔴 RATE UPDATE • 5 MAY 2026
The Reserve Bank of Australia has lifted the cash rate to 4.35%, the highest since 2011.
If you’re financing a car, truck, or equipment (or planning to), here’s what it means 👇
📊 THE CHANGE
4.10%⬆️ 4.35% (today)
📈 VARIABLE RATE LOANS
Repayments just went up.
A 0.25% increase = roughly:
• $20–$25/month per $100K borrowed
If you’ve got multiple assets or larger finance, this adds up quickly.
✅ FIXED RATE LOANS
No change.
If your rate is locked in, your repayments stay exactly the same.
⚡ APPLYING FOR FINANCE RIGHT NOW?
Timing matters..
Lenders can reprice within hours or days after an RBA decision.
➡️ Getting your deal in today could mean securing a better rate before increases flow through.
💰 WHAT THIS HIKE ADDS (PER MONTH)
$50K loan → +$10–12
$100K loan → +$20–25
$250K loan → +$52–60
$500K loan → +$104–120
🤝 THE BROKER ADVANTAGE
After every rate rise, lender pricing spreads out.
Some increase immediately.
Others hold — temporarily.
That gap = opportunity.
We know which lenders are moving today… and which ones haven’t yet.
Whether you’re:
• Reviewing existing loans
• Buying a new vehicle
• Financing equipment
We’ll make sure you’re getting the best available structure and rate.

5 things to do before applying for asset finance
Looking to finance a car, equipment, or machinery? A little prep upfront can make a big difference to your approval and overall outcome.
1. Check your credit file
Understand what lenders will see. Grab a free copy through Equifax, mistakes happen more often than you think and they can usually be fixed.
2. Know your numbers
Have a clear snapshot of your income (or business turnover), existing debts, and expenses. The more clarity you have, the smoother and faster the process.
3. Get your documents together
For business: recent tax returns or BAS, ABN details.
For PAYG: payslips, bank statements, ID.
Being organised can shave days off approval times.
4. Understand the asset
Know what you’re buying and its value. Make, model, year, and whether it’s a private sale or dealer purchase. This all plays a role in how lenders assess the deal.
5. Speak to a broker first
Every application hits your credit file. A broker helps you get it right the first time, matching you with the right lender instead of applying blindly.
At Prime Asset Finance, we guide you through the entire process, from first chat to settlement. Access to 30+ lenders across consumer and commercial means we tailor the right solution for you.
