MEDIA RELEASE
Strengthening Disability Advocacy Support in WA - Joining of Services between Explorability Inc and PWdWA.
We wish to announce that Explorability’s individual advocacy service in the Perth, Peel, and Wheatbelt regions will be joining People with Disabilities WA (PWdWA) from August 1, 2024. The joining of services marks a significant step towards a stronger, more sustainable disability advocacy service that is well-positioned for current future challenges.
“The decision to join advocacy services with PWdWA was made after thorough consideration of a range of factors, particularly the needs of people with disability that our organisations support, and the overall benefit that combining resources and expertise will achieve. Alignment of values and purpose, overall sustainability, and PWdWA’s previous experience providing outreach advocacy in the Wheatbelt, were also key considerations” Explorability Board Chair, Deane Criddle.
“The joining of services will facilitate the merging of both organisations’ strengths and capabilities and ensure that people with disability will continue to have access to quality advocacy support,” said PWdWA Chair Nihal Iscel.
Explorability’s advocacy staff will transfer to PWdWA on the 1st August, which will ensure a smooth transition for current individuals.
Note: Explorability has also provided support, as directed by the person, to assist individuals accessing our support coordination service to transition to another provider of their choice.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank both Boards & leadership teams, the employees, the individuals & families we support, the Department of Communities, and the Minister Punch's Office for their continued support throughout this process.

Last Saturday, December 2nd, Explorability celebrated International Day of People with Disability at an event at Cockburn Gateway.
Explorability joined hosts, the City of Cockburn’s Access and Inclusion team, for a day of music and dance showcasing the exceptional talents of Ben Rowe and Tony, Catch Music, Onyx, Jennelle Russo singers, Carus Thompson as well as a local dancing troupe.
Good vibes and disability myth-busting were the order of the day, the audience getting a taste of what people with disability can achieve when inclusion isn’t just a word!

We are excited to introduce Sarah, Individual Advocate.
Sarah is currently studying Psychology, Criminology and Justice at Edith Cowan University. One day, she hopes to participate in establishing a fair and just criminal justice system which focuses on crime prevention and reducing recidivism through rehabilitation and restorative justice. Sarah has diverse employment experience ranging from, horse breeding, raising, and training racehorses and managing 5-star hotels across WA, before finding her purpose advocating for people with disabilities.
She believes access to fundamental services such as healthcare and education is a right rather than a privilege. Sarah feels fortunate to be given the opportunity to fight for these and other basic rights in her role as an advocate.
Sarah hopes to travel around the world to immerse herself in different cultures. She enjoys getting stuck into home improvement projects and renovations. Most of all, she loves her downtime hanging out with her partner and our three rescued fur babies, Django, Ripley, and Rexy.
Please call (08) 6361 6001 or email [email protected] to chat about Explorability’s services.
