A year ago, we all agreed it was a rental crisis. At that point there were 2800 properties available to rent, the borders were shut, and there was a tent city in Fremantle.

Today, we have 2300 properties available for rent, nothing has been done about the homelessness issue, and we are about to open the borders to thousands of would-be renters.

If there was ever the need to incentivise investors to create rental stock and downsizers to move on, it was a year ago.
