ETHNIC CUP QUARTER FINAL

MAKEDONIJA πŸ‡²πŸ‡° 3-2 πŸ‡©πŸ‡― DJIBOUTI A.E.T.

The boys are through to the semi finals after a professional display saw them edge past Djibouti in extra time.

Makedonija started off stronger and dominated the first 25 minutes of proceedings with a number of chances but no end product could be found. Djibouti slowly found their feet and in the latter stages of the first half found themselves ahead much to the dismay of the Macedonian fans. The boys in red would hit back soon after through a calvinho vitniovski penalty after a clear handball in the box. Half time came with the scores locked at 1-1.

The second half saw an even tustle with chances going both ways and Djibouti would once again take the lead through a free kick sending their fans into raptures hwoever, the lead wouldnt last long once again. A wonderful jinking run from sasa njegovski forced a rash tackle giving the ref no other option but to point the spot once more. Vitniovski making no mistake once again to make it 2-2. Macedonia then spurned a number of huge chances to take the win in the last 15 minutes however normal time would end 2-2.

Extra time was in large a much more one sided affair. The boys taking the lead early through Vlad Naumovski who took his chance with great composure. Frustrations beginning to boil over for the Djiboutians who would ultimately end the game with 9 men after 2 red cards for ill discipline.

A great result that now sets up a tasty encounter with congo in the semi finals this sunday at 5.45pm.

MATCHDAY 2

MAKEDONIJA πŸ‡²πŸ‡° 1-1 πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡² ZAMBIA

Matchday 2 saw our boys in red take on Zambia with hopes of 3 points however would have to settle for a just the 1. The boys dominated the first 25 minutes of the match creating a number of great chances with no end product. Zambia slowly got themselves into the game and forced damjanoski into a string of massive saves to keep the boys in it. With the half time whistle near Stepanovski drove a free kick to the back post and Blazevski was on hand to smash the ball into the net. The lead however would only last a few minutes with Zambia equalising on the half time whistle.

The second half saw the boys dominate and with the injection of experience through Daniel and David Micevski the game went to another level. Njegic, who took the game upon himself in the final 20, came close to scoring yet another wonder goal smashing a shot onto the crossbar with 10 left. Zambia would finish the game with 10 men however the boys could not capitalise despite the constant pressure in the final minutes and would have to settle for the draw.

Only a win will suffice in the final group game against El Salvador in 2 weeks time.

Thank you to everyone who came to support the boys, and thank you once again to
