Dear Startrill friends,

Let’s talk about toxic substances to cats that may be in your home. Particularly eucalyptus and tea tree oils.

Both of these may be ingredients in common household cleaning products. They may be in floor cleaners, bathroom cleaners or home deodorisers.

If your cat steps on floors that have been cleaned with a eucalyptus product, then licks its paws and ingests some, it may fall very very ill. The situation is similar for ingesting tea tree oil products. Fatalities have occurred.

You may not realise which products they are in.

I discovered recently that they can also be in personal mosquito repellent and mould cleaning products. Please always check the ingredients of any products you buy.

There are many harmful substances around the home and garden also. This note is only focused on two of them.
